Welcome to Gozo E-mail

Allow  me to take you on a journey of hidden treasures and delights.

The name of this gem of an island is Gozo. Gozo is the sister isle of Malta which is a 25 minute ferry ride away from Malta itself. As you reach the harbour Mgarr, your eyes feast upon a setting of traditional architecture, old and modern restaurants and taverns which will appeal to an array of age groups. There is a constant service of taxis and car rentals to take you to your chosen destination.

festa You Tube The Gozitans are very friendly and informative and willingly direct you if you are in doubt of where to go and how to get there.

One of the first things that became apparent to me was their genuine pleasure in introducing you to their island.

The Gozitans are proud and happy people and there is a warm and safe atmosphere wherever you go.

The island is 9 miles long. How cool is that!

Wherever you go it doesn't take a big part of your day to get there. Dwejra, was the first beach friends who are fortunate enough to live there introduced me to, an inland sea cove.

Where can you go in the world as it is today, where the locals leave their keys in their front doors when they are out and about doing their daily chores? This is due to a time of invasions when the local inhabitants were captured and sold as slaves in North Africa, their heartbroken families left their key in the door with the belief their loved ones may one day return. Gozo today is safe and virtually crime free. Hence, door keys can be left worry free. The roads are mostly rugged yet this adds to the charm and history of the place, everywhere is easily accessible.

The incredible Azure Window is also located in Dwejra jutting out of the cliffs. It was simply The Creme De La Creme. Gozo's scenic coastline is plentiful of gorgeous bays and perfect beaches. For me Dwejra was a pleasurable place to snorkel and explore a cavernous passage, take some lunch at the jetty side cafe and just chill. Victoria the capitol, also known as Rabat in Malti, is prosperous and quaint. I revelled walking the labyrinth of side streets. I found traditional gifts and cutting edge fashion, arts and crafts. Later, I visited Comino Island and swam in the famous blue lagoon.

If you are considering time off to visit a hidden treasure in the Med, I propose Gozo as a favourite. I only skimmed the surface of Gozo, but I am left with a definite desire to return to the dreamy island.
